Why duplicate an element?
Over time, new elements may be added to your equipment. These new elements may or may not be subject to regulation, and must be taken into account to ensure your tracking in Ealico matches what's actually present on your site.
However, if your element is identical to one already in your tracking, duplicating it lets you copy the characteristics of the similar element rather than re-entering all the fields when creating a new one.
Note: the Reference 1 and Reference 2 pair must form a unique combination.
How do I duplicate an element?
Tip: for this step, have the technical specifications on hand (nameplate, manufacturer's file, etc.) for the element you want to create.
To duplicate an element, simply:
Click on "Elements"
Filter for the element to duplicate
Click on the element
Click on "Action"
Click on "Duplicate"
Enter the new values in the corresponding fields
Click on "Create"
Note: if a required field is left blank, you won't be able to create the element. You'll see the message "Error, invalid form, please correct the errors and try again." Only the draft status lets you create an element without filling in all required fields however, it won't be subject to any regulatory deadline.
